I find myself in amazement that I am about to complete sixteen years as your cantor. I find it equally
incredulous that my oldest daughter is less than two months from becoming a Bat Mitzvah. Where has
the time gone? Time is a commodity whose precious nature is often overlooked. HaShem grants us a limited lifespan, and it is up to us to make the most of it. The measure of man is not necessarily in years, but in the significance of those years. Over sixteen years we have shared much joy and much sadness. I hope that I have been there for each of you as much as you have for me. If I have disappointed you I ask your forgiveness and offer my solemn promise to do better. I hope and pray that we are able to spend many more significant years together. Evan B. Rubin |
