Candle Lighting Blessing

Ba'ruch a-tah a-do-noy el-lo-ke-nu me-lech Haolam, a-sher kid-shanu b'mitz-vo sov, v'tzi-vo-nu L'Hadlik ner shel:

On Shabbos conclude: Shabbos.

On Festivals conclude: Yom Tov.

On Festivals occuring on Friday conclude: Shabbos ve'yom tov.

Blessed are Thou, O Lord, our G-d, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us by Thy commandments and instructed us to kindle the Sabbath (and/or) Festival Lights.


Chanukah Candle Lighting Blessing

Ba'ruch a-tah a-do-noy El-lo-ke-nu me-lech Haolam, a-sher Kid-shanu b'mitz-vo sov, V'tzi-Vo-nu L'Hadilik ner Shel Chanukah:

Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe, who has sanctified us by His commandments, and has commanded us to kindle the lights of Chanukah.

Ba'ruch a-tay a-do-noy elo-ke-nu melech Ha-olam, She-oso nisim La-a-vo-sai-nu ba-yo-min Ha-Haim bas-man hazah.

Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe, who wrought miracles for our father in days of old, at this season.

(The following blessing is said only on the first evening, or the first time one kindles the lights this Chanukah.)

Ba-ruch a-tah a-do-noy E-lo-ke-nu me-lech ha-olam, sh-heche-yonu V-ki-ye-mo-nu, V-hi-gi-yo-nu laz-man Ha-zah.

Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, King of the Universe, who has kept us alive, and has preserved, and enabled us to reach this season.
